Rifle Club to Host Brownell's NRA Day - June 5 , 2021
Saturday, June 5th, the Carmi Rifle Club will be hosting their annual
Brownell’s NRA Day which will be open to men, women, and youths (ages 9
yrs. old and up). The Carmi club is proud to continue southern
Illinois' rich heritage of firearm ownership and sport shooting. The
event, partially funded by a grant from the Friends of the NRA
Foundation, is a unique opportunity to learn about the importance
of firearm safety and to participate in a wide variety of shooting
sports. The day begins at 8:30 am with registration and includes
firearm safety orientation, instruction in the fastest growing sports in
the nation - trap shooting with shotguns and steel challenge with .22
target pistols, firing a wide variety of rifles and centerfire pistols.
Participants will have an opportunity to shoot paper targets, reactive
targets such as spinners and steel plates, as well as clay targets.
The Carmi Rifle Club, a not-for-profit organization, hosts this event as
a community service and provides lunch, hearing and eye protection, as
well as all the firearms and ammunition. This will be the 15th
year for an event of this type to be hosted by the club. Members
encourage those interested in firearms to participant in this
educational and fun program. All activities are supervised by NRA
certified instructors, range safety officers, and experienced club
members. NRA safety rules are strictly enforced. The event will be
held at the Carmi Rifle Club at the north edge of Carmi just off Hwy 1
on County Road 1250 E which is across the road from Vibracoustic
Industries.
Attendance is limited to the first 25 participants to register. The fee
for the day is $30. To receive a registration form or for more

The Carmi Rifle Club in Carmi, IL will be hosting its annual
NRA Women On Target instructional shooting clinic on Saturday, May
1st. The day will begin with registration at 8:30 a.m. followed
with firearm safety orientation and instructional sessions for
shotgun, .22 caliber handgun in the morning. Attendees
will have the added opportunity to shoot rifles and centerfire
handguns in the afternoon. Participants will be treated to a
picnic lunch. The purpose of the clinic is to provide training
in the safe handling of firearms in a safe, relaxing,
non-competitive, and fun-filled environment. The clinic will
conclude at approximately 3 p.m. Firearms, ammunition, targets
and lunch will be provided by the club. The event is made
possible in part by the Friends of the NRA Foundation.
The event will be supervised by NRA certified instructors and
range safety officers as well as experienced club members.
The club is located north of Carmi at 1576 Co. Rd. 1250 E, Carmi, IL,
just off Illinois Highway 1.
Registration for the clinic costs $30 per participant.

16 hr. Concealed Carry Class Dec. 5 and 12, 2020 CCL Renewal Dec. 12, 2020
Carmi Rifle Club, a not-for-profit organization,
will be offering its fall 16 hr. concealed carry class Dec. 5 and
12th. 16 hours of training is required by law for the IL
license. The club will host the Day 1 class which covers firearms
and marksmanship on Nov. 2. The Day 2 class which covers
the legal portion and range qualification is scheduled for
Saturday, Dec. 12th. Classroom portion will be conducted at the White
County Farm Bureau Bldg. with range training and qualification at the
Carmi Rifle Club. Instructors will be IL State Police
registered concealed carry instructors Mike and Valinda Rowe.
Students who have up to 8 hours of acceptable prior training which can
be credited toward the 16 total hours may register for the Dec. 12th
Day 2 class without attending the Day 1 class. Acceptable prior
training would include a honorable military discharge or NRA Basic
Pistol certificate, or a combination of IL Hunter Safety certificate
along with a Utah concealed carry license. Other training might
qualify but would have to be confirmed prior to registration.
Hours for both classes will be 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fee for
each day is $115. Pre-registration is required.
Concealed Carry Renewal Class - Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020
Illinois concealed carry licenses must be renewed
every 5 years. The Carmi Rifle Club will be offering the renewal course
on Saturday, Dec. 12, 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. The classroom portion
of the course and will be held at White County Farm Bureau Building,
304 E Robinson St. Carmi, IL. Live-fire qualification will be
conducted at the Carmi Rifle Club range and scheduled throughout the
rest of the morning and afternoon. Course conducted by ISP
registered instructors Mike and Valinda Rowe.
This course fulfills the renewal training requirements for the Illinois Concealed Carry License.
Firearms and ammunition will be supplied. FEE: $50.

Carmi Rifle club will be hosting concealed carry classes in March! Day 1
of the CCL course is Saturday, March 21, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the
fee is $115. Day 2 will be Saturday, March 28, 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and
the fee is $115. The CCL Renewal Class is Saturday, March 28, 8:30 a.m.
to 1:30 p.m. and the fee is $50. Advance registration required. Call

Annual Open Range Weekend at Carmi Rifle Club
Oct. 18-20
Carmi Rifle Club invites the public to their annual open range
weekend on Oct. 18, 19, 20. The event is free, primitive camping
is available, the only services available are a spot to set up and
porta-potty. Anyone wanting to camp out the nights of 18th – 19th
are welcome.
The range will be open to the shooting public from the evening of
Friday, Oct. 18th till 1 pm on Sunday 20th , at which time the range
will close for a 4-H shooting event. Eye and Ear protection are
required for everyone on the firing range.
Saturday at 5 p.m. will be the annual members meeting and update
followed by a pot luck meal at 6 p.m.. Chris Tupper of Tupper's
Guns & Firearm Repair in Grayville will again be smoking some good
meat. Feel free to bring a dish and/or dessert. Paper goods will be
provided. There will be a good campfire going so bring lawn
chairs for some nice fellowship!
Concealed Carry Class Nov. 2 & 9th, CCL Renewal Nov. 9th

3-Hr. Renewal Course
Saturday, March 2, 2019
8:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
8:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. is the classroom portion of the course and will
be held at White County Farm Bureau Building, 304 E Robinson St. Carmi,
IL.
Live-fire qualification will be conducted at the Carmi Rifle Club range
and scheduled throughout the rest of the morning and afternoon. Course
conducted by ISP registered instructors Mike and Valinda Rowe.
This course fulfills the renewal training requirements for the Illinois
Concealed Carry License. It is important to renew your CCL before it
expires. If the license is allowed to expire, Illinois State Police are
stating the applicant must retake the whole 16 hours of training. If
renewal is submitted prior to the expiration date, the license will
remain active during the renewal process. We recommend this class if
your carry license is expiring in 2019.
Firearms and ammunition will be supplied.
FEE: $50
Pre-Registration and non-refundable deposit of class fee is required.

16 hr. IL Concealed Carry Course
Day 1 on Sat., March 30, 2019 - $115
Day 2 on Sat., April 6, 2019 - $115
8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days.
The two day course fulfills the 16 hr. required hours of training for
the IL concealed carry license. If you have 8 hrs. prior credit, you
only need to sign up for Day 2. Examples of prior credit – NRA Basic
Pistol certificate, DD214, Hunter Safety (4hrs) plus Utah or FL
concealed carry license (4hrs) if training was done in separate classes
and not together.
Space is limited to 12 students for Day 1 – no limit for Day 2. If you
would like to reserve seats in either class or both classes, please
respond ASAP.
Pre-Registration and non-refundable deposit of class fee is required.

This Sat., July 1st, we will
have a booth set up at the Lion's Club Car Show at the White County
Fair Grounds. We will be selling memberships and selling raffle tickets
for a Devil Dogs Arms custom AR-15. This is a $1300.00 outfit that will
be awarded on Corn Day this fall. Tickets start @ $5.

This course is designed as an entry level course for the Illinois
Concealed Carry License. Students who have not already taken Day 1 must
have 8 hours of prior training credit. Acceptable prior training: NRA
Basic Pistol course, military DD214, combination IL Hunter Safety/Utah
CCL, law enforcement certificate of training.
COURSE CONTENTS COVERS ALL ELEMENTS REQUIRED BY STATE LAW TO QUALIFY FOR THE ILLINOIS CONCEALED CARRY LICENSE
1. Firearm safety
2. The basic principles of marksmanship
3. Care, cleaning, loading, and unloading of a concealable firearm
4. All applicable State and federal laws relating to the ownership,
storage, carry, and transportation of a firearm 5. Instruction on the
appropriate and lawful interaction with law enforcement while
transporting or carrying a
concealed firearm
6. Live fire range qualification
